ANDREA MAACK PARFUMS is a Reykjavík based fragrance house founded in 2009 by visual artist Andrea Maack.
The eau de parfums are a collection of distinctive fragrances originally created for museum exhibitions, made out of
the highest quality raw materials. Challenging the way in which we've come to understand our olfactory senses and
their link to memory, Maack´s scents invert the conventional formula and invite the spectator to become part of the
artwork.
The Icelandic artist introduces a range of parfums originally created for her art installations with creative collaborator
DP & CO who masterfully paired Maack's vision with young talented perfumers. Instead of giving them too many
directions, the challenge for the perfumers was to reflect on Maack's intricate pencil drawings and turn them into
olfactory experience, making only one version of each. The fragrances represent an entirely original work method
based on the interpretation and translation of visual cues and how scent ties together the elements of the artwork.
Visual artist Andrea Maack graduated from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2005. Her work incorporates elements
of both, graphic art and fashion design, using pencil and mixed media drawings to inform the creation of sculpture and
wearable art. Inverting and questioning accepted rules and roles, Andrea continually crisscrosses the border between
art and consumerism using the inspiration of her exhibition pieces to create commercial but highly unconventional
collections.
